Germany's melodic death metal/metalcore band HEAVEN SHALL BURN will be releasing its sixth studio album entitled ‘Invictus (Iconoclast III)’ on May 21st, 2010 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, on May 24th, 2010 in the rest of Europe and on June 8th, 2010 in USA via Century Media Records.
HEAVEN SHALL BURN formed in 1996 and is deemed to be one of the most socially conscientious bands around; their lyrics (at times controversial) deal mainly with social injustices. After releasing an MCD entitled ‘In Battle There Is No Law’ in 1998 and a split-LP with FALL OF SERENITY in 1999, the band signed with Lifeforce Records and released their debut studio album, ‘Asunder’, in 2000. Their next effort, 2002's ‘Whatever It May Take’, was received with much praise by music critics: “The subject matter here is overtly political, raging against injustice with an informed intelligence rarely seen in straight-up death metal, while, at the same time, forging a torrent of hatred and violence the likes of which pure hardcore can only hope to touch,” wrote Eduardo Rivadavia, Allmusic. For their third full-length, ‘Antigone’ (2004) - HEAVEN SHALL BURN's first recording to be distributed internationally - Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds composed the intro and two outros. 2006's ‘Deaf To Our Prayers’ landed HEAVEN SHALL BURN on music charts. This release was followed by 2008's ‘Iconoclast (Part 1: The Final Resistance)’. Their first DVD entitled ‘Bildersturm - Iconoclast II (The Visual Resistance)’ came out in 2009.
Follow-up: HEAVEN SHALL BURN's video for the track ‘Combat’ was created by Animaatiokopla Studios (Finland) and was premiered by Amnesty International Germany. Their album ‘Invictus’ was released to positive reviews and landed top spot (number 9) on German music charts.
