Swedish progressive pop/rock/neo-classical metal innovators (as they are known these days) IN FLAMES have released new video for ‘Where The Dead Ships Dwell’, the song taken from their in June 2011 released tenth album entitled ‘Sounds Of A Playground Fading’. The video was directed by Patric Ullaeus. IN FLAMES will release the ‘Where The Dead Ships Dwell’ digital single between November the 11th to November the 16th, 2011, containing three different remixes; with versions by German rapper Casper, drum-and-bass act THE QEMISTS and one with Kristof Bathory of DAWN OF ASHES renown. Released on Century Media records, ‘Sounds Of A Playground Fading’ sold around 14,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week of release and debuted at position number 27 on The Billboard 200 chart, conquering German Albums Chart and reaching position number 12 on the Canadian Albums Chart.
“Their first outing without founding member and chief songwriter Jesper Strömblad (the 13 tracks rely solely on the music of Björn Gelotte and the lyrics of Anders Fridén), ‘Playground Fading's technical acumen and slick infusion of modern rock dazzles for the most part, especially on stand-out tracks like ‘A New Dawn’, ‘Fear Is The Weakness’, and the soaring title cut, all of which, in true IN FLAMES fashion, aim for the bleachers and end up exploding into the night sky, but for all of the bells and whistles, there’s not a whole lot of variety to be had here,” [commented James Christopher Monger, AllMusic – more here]
IN FLAMES features: Anders Fridén – vocals, Björn Gelotte – guitar, Daniel Svensson – drums, Peter Iwers – bass and Niclas Engelin – guitar
