Described as “one of the most powerful collisions of indie rock and black metal you’ll hear this year”, enigmatic and mysterious BOSSE-DE-NAGE have a new album out on Profound Lore Records. It is simply titled ‘III’, being their third longplayer, and the follow-up to last year's ‘II’.
“With live-appearances pretty much rare and the band's refusal to partake in any kind of promotional activity whatsoever, all coupled with the band's bizarre mix of avant-outsider black metal, SLINT-inspired indie-rock, and classic-era “screamo”, have made BOSSE-DE-NAGE one of the more intriguing, unique, uncompromising, and ultimately psychotic and murderous-sounding bands out of the Bay Area,” [reassures the label, Profound Lore Records]
‘III’ was released on June 26th, 2012; listen to the entire album here (BandCamp) or below, courtesy the label, do “pay attention to the drumming”, and finally, if you like what you hear, buy the record here (Profound Lore):
BOSSE-DE-NAGE: III
Supposedly formed around 2006, BOSSE-DE-NAGE recorded their first demo (‘Demo I’) soon after their supposed inception, released it through Funeral Agency, recorded another demo (‘Demo II’) which they never managed to release, followed the achievement up with a record they recorded in 2007 and which was eventually picked up by Flesner Records and issued in 2010 as BOSSE-DE-NAGE's self-titled debut full-length. The band's second album, ‘II’, came next in 2011; recommended “for fans of challenging black metal like KRALLICE, CIRCLE OF OUROBOROS, VIRUS, and any band that dares to look toward the Norwegian elders for inspiration before taking a hard left turn towards a path of their own” by Brooklyn Vegan, listen to the full album here (Brooklyn Vegan) if you like what you hear below:
