Hear, hear: “Gore-grinding metal gods EXHUMED have awakened from their slumber and delivered unto us ‘All Guts, No Glory’, their first new record in almost eight years,” reads the press release. “ ‘All Guts, No Glory’s 11 choice cuts of grinding death metal combine the raw ferocity of their legendary ‘Slaughtercult’ album with the wild ambition of 2003's ‘Anatomy Is Destiny’. As crimson concertos such as ‘Dis-assembly Line’, ‘As Hammer To Anvil’, and ‘Funereality’ illustrate, ‘All Guts, No Glory’ is EXHUMED's finest moment yet.” Head over to BandCamp here (or make use of the player embedded below) then and listen to this glorious album in its precocious entirety. EXHUMED recorded the beast at Arcane Digital Recordings in Arizona with engineer Ryan Butler, and at Trench Studios with John Haddad. ‘All Guts, No Glory’ was mixed and mastered at Mana Recording Studios by Brian Elliott:

San Jose, California's EXHUMED first came to be in the year 1990. Matt Harvey (guitar and vocals), Col Jones (drums), Derrel Houdashelt (guitar), Jake Giardina (vocals), and Ben Marrs (bass) kept recording and releasing numerous demos, split CD's and split EP's for almost a decade. During this time the band endured numerous line-up changes; Matt Harvey (guitar and vocals), Col Jones (drums), Ross Sewage (vocals and bass) and Mike Beams (guitar) signed to Relapse Records and finally released their first official full-length (“the genre-(re)defining and critic-repulsing”), ‘Gore Metal’, in 1998. Sewage left the band shortly after the release, leaving Harvey, Beams, and Jones to record its follow-up. 2000's ‘Slaughtercult’ featured backup vocals from DAWN/IN FLAMES' Henke Forss: “When you’re dealing with an EXHUMED CD, you can safely expect several things: a disgusting album cover, humorously tasteless song titles, ridiculous guitar solos, and plenty of no-frills, CARCASS-inspired death metal riffing. ‘Slaughtercult’ comes through on all counts. There’s a tendency among bands with such a patented approach to stagnate or become predictable, but while EXHUMED doesn’t throw any real curveballs here, they still deliver the goods. That’s because songs here are well written (it may take a few listens, though, to figure out exactly what’s going on) and the performances are just plain savage,” writes William York, AllMusic Guide. The enthusiastic reception took the band on three U.S. tours as well as their first European tour. One of the band's original members, drummer Col Jones, left EXHUMED soon after the release of 2003's ‘Anatomy Is Destiny’ (“though his swansong is liable to make many in the death metal community wonder why he left since the band's third disc is easily the band's best,” – W. York). After his departure, the band issued a 2CD compilation of their early recordings dubbed ‘Platters Of Splatter’ (2004). Bassist Leon DelMuerte replaced Bud Burke, and after some heavy-duty touring that followed, the band adjusted its personnel once again, resulting in the departure of long-time guitarist Mike Beams and the recruitment of new six-stringer Wes Caley, and drummer Matt Connell. This new, reinvigorated line-up released a covers album entitled ‘Garbage Daze Re-Regurgitated’, filmed a DVD and went on indefinite hiatus in 2005. EXHUMED reunited in 2010.
EXHUMED features: Matt Harvey - decrepit death rattle and repugnant requiems (guitar & vocals), Leon DelMuerte - gargled gurgitations and decayed dirges (bass & vocals), Wes Caley - thanatotic threnodies and ulcerous ululations (guitar) and Danny Walker - tympanic trituration (drums).
