It seems the world has celebrated the reawakening of the excellent cult black metal band SETH just yesterday - yet here they are with brand new album ‘The Howling Spirit’, due in Europe on June 7th, 2013 and on June 11th, 2013 in North America through Season Of Mist. Listen to the quintet's adventurous new album, featuring clean vocals by the singer and songwriter Kvohst (HEXVESSEL) on ‘One Ear To The Earth, One Eye On Heaven’, below, and help SETH's claim to their rightful place at the genre's forefront here (Season Of Mist e-shop), here (SETH's store), here (BandCamp) or via (the handsome player available to you below) iTunes:

Formed in 1995 in Bordeaux-famous-for-its-dark-red-wines, France, SETH officially started their career as pioneers of darkness in 1996 with a demo called ‘Apocalyptic Desires’. They then continued on the chosen path with 1997's EP ‘By Fire, Power Shall Be…’ and established themselves in the black metal underground with debut album ‘Les Blessures de l’Ame’, released on Season Of Mist Records in 1998. In 2012, the label reissued the record:
“When SETH released their legendary debut ‘Les Blessures de l’Âme’ in 1998, it was greeted with enthusiasm by reviewers and fans alike. The French combined harsh but melodic black metal with a well thought out concept on vampirism. The fiendish shrieks and rasps of vocalist Vicomte Vampyr Arkames combined with the fierce and cold buzzing of the crushing guitars delivered the ideal sound for their artistic expression. Brutal, dark and surprisingly catchy ‘Les Blessures de l’Âme’ creates gothic atmospheres supported by intelligent keyboard textures:”

Shamelessly encouraged by Season Of Mist, SETH next engaged in a war with their Italian counterparts CULTUS SANGUINE which they recorded in the year 2000. SETH then signed a two album deal with Osmose Productions and as a result recorded 2000's ‘The Excellence’, featuring DARKTHRONE's Fenriz as well as the electronic band TOTAL ECLIPSE, and 2002's album ‘Devine X’. After the release of their fourth longplayer, 2004's ‘Era Decay’, SETH took a prolonged breather only to “re-awake to dangerous activity as a slumbering volcano” in 2012.

SETH features: Black Messiah – vocals, Alsvid – drums, Heimoth – guitar, Cyriex – guitar and Eguil – bass
